ABOUT RUN 4 BEIGEL

Scott Beigel was a teacher. A cross-country coach. A counselor. A son. A brother. An uncle. A grandchild. A nephew. A cousin. A friend. He died a hero for his actions at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, where he taught geography and coached cross-country. In the wake of the tragedy at MSD, as the Parkland community mourned the devastation of so many lives lost and affected, Scott’s cross-country team quickly mobilized a 5k race in honor of their beloved coach and mentor. As the years pass, this race has become an event uniting the Parkland community and beyond in remembrance and celebration of Scott and all of those affected.

SCOTT J. BEIGEL MEMORIAL FUND

Scott loved working with children. Teaching afforded him the ability to continue with one of his life’s passions, working at sleep away camp. Scott ultimately wanted to have a positive impact on every child, no matter how young or old, no matter what the issues. His love for summer camp and his desire to teach and mentor children is the reason we started the Scott J. Beigel Memorial Fund.

The mission and purpose of the Scott J. Beigel Memorial Fund is to send at-risk, underserved children touched by gun violence to summer sleep-away camp.
